Statement

Radio Healer is an art practice that expresses multiple cultural approaches to music, dance, story, and electronic media arts expression to express the cross-cultural challenges associated with our time. Radio Healer functions to resolve itself internally as project collaborators take responsibility for each other's cultural knowledge to create a work of cultural innovation within an indigenous media framework. Through cross-cultural collaboration we seek to build friendship as we consider ways to appropriate and hack digital media and electronic technology to promote indigenous self-determinism.

Radio Healer demonstrates indigenous self-determinism within the context of our digital age by an indigenous knowledge systems approach to electronic technologies. This is practiced to gain insight into how people of different backgrounds can continue cultural ways of being within context of the electronic technology driven changes that pervade our world. The gathering of diverse peoples within Radio Healer is a celebration of leadership in pursuit of common ground. We believe that all cultures can appropriate and reshape market driven technology through indigenous media frameworks for culturally sensible applications. The works encompassed by our project signify a convergence of cultural resistance and indigenous innovation, despite the market's agenda to engineer societal behaviors.
