Flat is a collaborative dance work choreographed by Meredith Martinez and composed by Cristóbal Martínez for presentation at Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. The first movement of Flat is composed of pedestrian movements that are executed according to a code constructed of predetermined numbers, this same code is used to determine aspects of the music's rhythm within the first movement of the three-movement dance. Flat, a quartet of dancers with soloist, addresses problems of group identification, conformity, and alienation, and explores formal elements of patterns and repetition.

This piece was performed in Feb. 2006, at Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ.
